What is the Queer-Feminist Women||department (short: QFF||R)?

We see ourselves as a representation of the interests of students at Justus Liebig University Giessen. In particular, but not exclusively, we are aimed at all students who identify as women, students on the sapphic spectrum and queer students in general who are affected by patriarchal structures.

We offer space for (queer) political education and the discussion of current queer and feminist topics or just for doing handicrafts together with nice people. We also want to offer the opportunity to try out and develop your own identity within a protected space.

Our colourful QFF||R activities

We organise changing activist events such as lectures, readings and parties and regular series of events such as the Queer-Fem Kreativtreff. We are always happy to receive new ideas. If you would like to organise something new, please get in touch.

One of our highlights is the department’s own library, which has existed intermittently for decades, where you can browse through many books and magazines on queer and feminist topics free of charge.

We have a regular Wednesday meeting with varying activities, e.g. a reading café or the Queer-Fem creative meeting, current information can be found on our Instagram page (@qffr.uni.giessen).

Drop by our queerfeminist departmental library!

Our library is open again after a comprehensive redesign and offers a colourful selection of non-fiction and novels on queerfeminist topics such as gender, queerness, feminism and intersectionality. All students are welcome to browse through the collection and can borrow the media free of charge.

The library is open during all events in the department, i.e. usually during our regular departmental meetings on Wednesday evenings (as long as no external activities are scheduled) and during other events. You can find the current events on our Instagram (@qffr.uni.giessen).
